Our Gender Affirming Closet provides an inclusive and welcoming space for everyone to celebrate who they are. Clothing is a form of self expression and we want your experience at Centre LGBT+ to be one of meaning and warmth.
Wearing clothing that affirms your gender identity can provide a sense of validation and affirmation. It can also serve as a reminder that your identity is valid and worthy of recognition!
We offer a shopping experience that includes a changing room, free alterations (thanks to amazing volunteers Katie and Aimee), and the opportunity to work with a volunteer to find what you feel your best in.

Currently we are in need of gift cards (for size inclusive clothing/shoes) and monetary donations to support our purchasing of binders, packers, and other gender affirming items that are very size specific.

Gender Affirming Closet FAQ: Why We’re Moving to Appointment-Only
1. Why did the donation closet switch to an appointment-only system?
We’ve made this change to improve your experience and ensure everyone has access to the items they need. An appointment system helps us:

Offer a more personalized experience. Appointments allow staff and volunteers to dedicate time to better assist individuals, tailoring the experience to their specific needs.

Ensure we have adequate supplies for everyone. Limiting access through appointments can help staff better allocate resources, ensuring that there are enough items available for everyone.

Provide privacy and comfort during visits.
2. How does the appointment system work?
It’s easy! Just email us at hello@centrelgbtqa.org and request to schedule a visit. A staff member or volunteer will be in touch with you to coordinate a time during open hours.
3. Can I still drop by without an appointment?
To provide the best service, we encourage everyone to make an appointment. However, if you’re in urgent need, please contact us, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
4. What happens during an appointment?
You’ll have dedicated time to browse the closet, ask for help, and choose items that meet your needs. Our team will be available to answer questions and provide support as you shop.
5. Is there a limit to how often I can make an appointment?
To ensure fair access for everyone, we limit appointments to once a month. If you need additional support, let us know—we’re here to help!
6. Why can’t you stay open to everyone all the time?
As demand grows, we want to make sure we’re serving our community effectively. Appointments help us manage resources, restock items, and give each visitor the attention they deserve.
7. Does this mean there’s less availability?
Not at all! We’re still here for you—just in a more organized way. With appointments, we can make sure every visitor gets the time and support they need.
